Owen Murphy finishes 2nd on the Mewla
Round 6 of the Peugoet 206 super cup took place on the mewla national rally Sunday 28 august on the eypnt stages in mid Wales. 7 cup cars started the event from the 12 registered competitors.
Fist away was championship leader Johnny wigmore at 38 followed by 2nd place mike Faulkner with Owen Murphy seeded at 3rd. benefiting from his recent 3rd 206 cup finish on the Manx rally .

The seeding proved bang on with not more than 3 seconds separating the three on stage 1. However it all went wrong for wigmore when he rolled out on stage 2the short 3 mile burmagh road after stage 3 only returning to service. Mike Faulkner held a lead of 15 seconds fro Owen Murphy in 2nd place with Declan Magee in third place.

The loop of 3 stages was reproved for the 2nd time on stage 6. The long road mike Faulkner suffered power steering problems and Owen had an overheating engine. Mike managed to eek out a further six secs increasing his lead to 20 secs ahead of Declan Magee in 3rd with Britain uttie and sparks fighting for the lesser places on the third loop.

The flying teenager continued to be the only one able to apply pressure to the vastly experienced Faulkner now in his 4th year in the 206 cup on the 11 mile long road stage , his efforts were hampered by a bent wheel following a hard landing on the last loop of stages which were run in reverse.

Faulkner gained a few more secs on each stage bringing his winning margin to 59 secs from Owen Murphy in second with Declan Magee in third.

Colin Britton fourth and William mavitty 5th.
Owen Murphy also on the best overseas class finishing a creditable 16th overall from 53 finishers
