NEW SPONSOR FOR IRISH TARMAC RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP
Global Group International, a property development company with offices in Dublin, Galway and Sligo are to be the new sponsors of the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship.

Making the announcement. Bobby Clinton Chairman of the TROA Ltd. the organisers of the Championship, stated that he was especially pleased to welcome Global Group International as the new title sponsor, especially in view of the fact that current competitors Noel Mc Carrick and Tom Gormley are Directors of the company. "Global Group International are keen to raise our profile in the Irish and UK markets and we see the Tarmac Championship as a high profile vehicle (If you pardon the pun!) to help us achieve this. The television coverage of the Championship is extensive and was one of the primary reasons for our decision to partner the TROA " said Global Group International's Noel Mc Carrick.

Championship Manager Don Wilmont indicated that the Championship would be known as the Global Group Irish Tarmac Rally Championship.
"Sponsorship is a business arrangement and I very much look forward to working with Noel and his colleagues in Global Group International to raise the profile of both Global Group and the Tarmac Championship," concluded Wilmont.

PRESS RELEASE - Dates and Scoring Changes for 2007 PITRC

Subject to ratification by Motorsport Ireland, the TROA (Tarmac Rally Organisers Association) have agreed to introduce a new scoring system for the 2007 Pirelli Irish Tarmac Rally Championship. It is intended to cater for two very strong groups of customers in the Championship by introducing two scoring categories for next year:- World Rally Cars and Production Cars - each of which will score equal points for Overall Championship honours.

The new scoring system will continue to cater for the large number of existing registered WRC competitors while also providing an opportunity for the growing number of Group N registrations and emerging Super 2000 entries to challenge for overall Championship honours.

Outlining the changes Don Wilmont Championship Manager stated "Irish rallying is indebted to World Rally Cars for their contribution to the profile of Irish Rallying and this new scoring system will ensure that they remain an integral part of the sport while at the same time providing the increasingly competitive Production Cars and Super 2000 the opportunity to challenge the WRC's for a place on the Championship podium.
"This revised points scoring system will provide the choice of a more cost effective route to overall Championship honours for both competitors and teams while still retaining the unrivalled spectacle of rally winning WRC'c as an important element of the Championship" commented Bobby Clinton, TROA Chairman.
