Ford Ireland are committed to supporting and promoting young Irish Rally Talent throughout the ranks, the Ford Ladder of Opportunity starts with the Ford KA, Ford Focus, Super 1600 Puma and eventually the World Rally Championship.

Another first for Ford Ireland, the Ford Focus Rally Championship is the next step in the Ford Ladder of Opportunity. The Focus Rally Championship is based on a Two Litre normally aspirated front wheel drive Ford Focus and the car is homologated into Group A. The Ford Focus Rally Championship will consist of five International Rallies within Ireland in 2002.

The Ford Focus Rally Championship has an extremely generous Prize Fund of €13,000, with the overall winner getting to test drive an M-Sport Focus WRC and gain automatic entry into shoot out competition for entry into the Ford Rallye Sport Junior Team with a prize fund of Stg£50,000.

The existing Ford Ka Rally Championship will continue for the fourth consecutive year, in 2001 there were 15 Ford KA’s competing in Ireland helping promote the Ford Brand image as well as supporting young drivers at a crucial stage of their careers.

"The Ford Focus Rally Championship is another first for Ford Ireland as well as being the next step in the Ford Ladder of Opportunity for Irish Drivers. For too long nothing has been done to promote Irish driving talent and with the new structure and prize fund we feel that this problem will be addressed" said Declan Foley, Brand Manager, Ford Ireland.
