Virgo Rally – 10-11 May 14

Event Cancelled

Posted: April 17, 2014 11:03 AM

"It is with great regret that Port Talbot Motor Club must announce the cancellation of the newly resurrected Virgo Rally, particularly as the event has received new and encouraging support from Nick Bradbury Photographic, in becoming the new sponsor of the Epynt based event.

The rally - scheduled for May 10th- has received great competitor interest, entries received in good numbers even before the full Regulations were published, and it seemed as though the event had an ensured success. It was however, sharing costs and usage of the military ranges with the cars entered in the Sydney to London Marathon, Epynt concluding the European leg of that event. Port Talbot MC received news over the week-end that the Organisers of the SLM had been advised that the air transport scheduled to return Marathon cars from Perth to Ankara was no longer available "

Port Talbot Motor Club Ltd welcomes you to the Virgo Rally 2014 which is supported by Nick Bradbury Photography.

Port Talbot motor Club would like to thank Nick Bradbury for supporting the event.

This once popular event was originally one of the premier road rallies in South Wales in the 70’s. It then became a stage event but has not run since December 1985. The last time it ran was on Epynt on the 28 December 1985, and was won by Bob Fowden.

The event will run in conjunction with the Saturday ONLY part of the Sydney to London Marathon Rally.

The event will consist of 45 miles of stages using the centre complex and the roads out to the East of the ranges (New Road) and with an entry fee of £199 is possibly the best value pounds per mile for any rally in the area.

In order to keep costs down to you the competitor, there will be no NO Recce, but Route notes can be purchased from Patterson Agencies.

No WRC cars or cars derived from WRC cars are allowed, however four wheel drive cars are welcome but only in N4 and B13 specifications.

There will be one central Service Area, and the event will start on the Epynt Ranges.

We look forward to welcoming both old and new competitors to the event and we would like to wish everybody a successful and enjoyable and safe day’s rallying.
