With less than a week to go to the seventh Ted's Opel Vauxhall Run, the final preparations are under way. This years event is once again co sponsored by the Kevin O'Leary Group Opel Dealers and Cartell.ie. Interest from all corners of the country is very high with close on fifty rooms booked at the Run's HQ the Hotel Killarney.
This Run is the highlight of the Opel / Vauxhall calendar in Ireland attracting in the region of eighty vehicles to the event. There are numerous Awards and Trophies with an additional Award added this year presented by Opel Ireland. The major prizes will be presented after the lunch with the "Special Awards" presented at various stops along the route.
The route leaves Killarney and heads to Dingle, continuing on to Ventry with the lunch stop at the renowned Páidí Ó Sé's Bar. It then continues around Slea Head, over the Connor Pass to Camp, over Bóthair na gCloch, on to Boolteens and returning to the Hotel Killarney.
A great social night usually rounds off the event in the Hotel Killarney Bar.
All Opel / Vauxhall / Bedford / GM vehicles are welcome, Old or New. Why not call to the Hotel on the morning to see the cars before the head off. Cars will be leaving the Hotel at 10am on Saturday 9th.

LAUNCH of Ted’s Opel Vauxhall Run 2014.

cars and hear about the Run and meet some the people behind it.

As it is just over six weeks to the seventh “Ted’s Opel Vauxhall Run” the pressure is mounting to have everything in top form. The 2014 run on August 9th which is based in the Hotel Killarney (formally the Quality Hotel) on the Cork Road, Killarney is already attracting huge interest. With this event being one of the largest Opel / Vauxhall events in the country attracting in the region of seventy to eighty vehicles, we have already received confirmation from people from all corners of Ireland and have some overseas interest also.
Accommodation is being snapped up at the hotel with only a few rooms remaining, it is advised that anyone requiring accommodation to contact the Hotel at 064-6626200. The Group Rate is €40 pps or €60 single room. Please quote OPEL 14 when booking to acquire these rates.
Registration on the morning of the Run will be from 9am – 9.45am. A Fee of €20 per car will apply. The first of the Special Awards (of which there are four) will be presented at 10am at the Hotel. The Run will leave from the Hotel Killarney immediately afterwards.
In this years route we are incorporating parts of The Wild Atlantic Way, the Dingle Peninsula, Slea Head, the Connor Pass and also cover some terrain that has been used as Rally stages in the past. So we will have plenty of Sea, Mountains and the best of the South West’s driving roads.
Our Lunch stop will be at the renowned Paidí Sé’s Bar in Ventry. Lunch will be available to those who wish to avail of it at €15 pp.
It will be after Lunch that the Perpetual Cups and some other Awards will be presented as well as plenty Spot prizes. The “Kevin O’Leary Opel” Perpetual Cup will be presented for the Best Opel and the “Cartell.ie” Perpetual Cup will be presented to the Best Vauxhall. The “Spirit of the Run “Perpetual Award is another one that will be up for grabs. We will also have an additional Perpetual Trophy this year kindly Sponsored by Opel Ireland.
The cars will return to the Hotel Killarney on the Saturday evening. The evening/night will conclude with a relaxed get together in the bar and usually finishes with a few songs.
This Run has always been Cork/Kerry based since Macroom man Ted O'Connell started it in 2008. There is now an organising Committee of enthusiasts from the Cork/Kerry region involved to spread the workload.

The Annual "Ted's Opel Vauxhall Run" will take place on August 9th this year. This is one of the Opel Vauxhall enthusiasts largest gatherings in Ireland.
The Run's base will be at the Quality Hotel, Cork Road, Killarney, Co. Kerry. (064 6626200) A special group rate for those wishing to avail of accommodation has been arranged. The Quality Hotel are offering a rate of €40.00 pps or €60.00 single room per night. When you are booking please qoute reference "OPEL14 128460" Early booking is advised as it is peek season and demand for rooms is high.
Registration will be from 9.00am to 9.45am. A registration fee of €20.00 per car will apply.
The first of the Special Awards will be presented at the Hotel at 10.00am sharp and the Run will depart immediately after.
