DALY CLINCHES ‘99 FORD KA RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE

Derek Daly from Killarney, Co. Kerry in the Killarney Autos Ford KA has clinched the 1999 Ford KA Rally Championship Title on the final round of the Championship at the Cork 20 International Rally.

Derek produced a very mature drive not taking any risks to finish in 4th position and secured the crown. Derek has dominated the 1999 Ford KA Rally Championship taking four outright victories showing his talent, speed, consistency and the ability under pressure to clinch the Championship crown.

Ian Chadwick from Ballincollig, Cork in the Ultra Seal Ford KA secured second place overall in both the Cork 20 Rally and the 1999 Ford KA Rally Championship. Ian challenged Derek Daly all year and they thrilled the crowds all year with their titanic battle. Ian will definitely be a star of the future.

James Travers from Kilkenny in the Barry Pender Motors Ford KA finished fourth place overall in the Cork 20 Rally to secure a fine third place in the 1999 Ford KA Rally Championship. James a past Autocross Champion and a newcomer to the rallying scene had a very impressive debut year, showing his speed and ability with a string consistent results.

The 1999 Ford KA Rally Championship is the first one make manufacturer supported Rally Championship in Irish history. All cars are identical placing the ability rather than budget. Protec Promotions Ltd the organisers of the Championship are delighted with the success this year’s series, the reliability of the Ford KA, the closeness of the competition and the Championships popularity with the public has proved that this Championship is the way forward in Irish Rallying. The 2000 Ford KA Rally Championship has been confirmed.
