DONNELLY DELIVERS IN TRIP TO TIPP Eugene Donnelly/Paddy Toner (Subaru WRC) won the BDBC Tipperary Stonethrowers Rally, round seven of the Dunlop National Rally Championship. Series leaders, Michael Barrable/Dermot O'Gorman, also in a Subaru WRC, were second. They retain the lead of the Dunlop series but their advantage is cut to eight points. The Stonethrowers will have a 5 minute slot on the sports tonight program on TV3 this Friday (17th August) after the news at around 11:00 pm. "Check your local press for exact time....."

There will be full program from the event on TG4 in a few weeks time. Details will be posted on www.irish-rallying.com when available.

O’Donovan stars in Tipp but local hero Meagher takes the win
Frank Meagher emerged as the winner of the eighth round of the Dunlop National Rally today when the local hero won the Clonmel based Tom Hogan Motors Stonethrowers Rally by eight seconds from early rally leader Donal O’Dovonan.

Driving his Eircom.net Toyota Celica, O’Donovan took the rally lead on the third stage when he set the first of three consecutive fastest stage times but a massive last minute charge by Meagher turned the table on the West Cork driver. Meagher going 36 seconds fastest over the final two stages.

CLONMEL 8TH AUGUST 1999 -. Derek Daly from Killarney, Co. Kerry has won the fifth round of the Ford KA Rally Championship at the Stonethrowers Rally in Clonmel. Derek produced one of his best drives of the season to secure the win when it really mattered. Derek started the event under great pressure, as he needed a win to keep his Championship hopes alive.
