Renowned British Porsche preparation firm, Tuthill Porsche, will be featured in a full-length documentary broadcast by Motors TV on Friday March 7 at 20:00.

The programme, to be aired in a week’s time, is all about the team’s efforts on last year’s East African Safari Classic Rally: an epic nine-day marathon that ran through Kenya and Tanzania in November.

During the course of the event – which Tuthill Porsche won with Bjorn Waldegard when it was previously held in 2011 – the competitors negotiated 3900 arduous kilometres of roads through some of the most spectacular scenery in the world.

Despite the jaw-dropping scale of the event, the leading duo entered the final day separated by only a handful of seconds – and the rally would go on to be decided by a mere puncture.

Tuthill Porsche arrived with 17 Porsche 911s, 50 tonnes of freight and 650 tyres in Africa, after an intense 18 months of preparation. Ahead of the drivers lay one of the biggest challenges in motorsport, all told in captivating detail during the hour-long documentary.

The fly-on-the-wall footage captures perfectly the drama and spirit of adventure that characterises the Safari Rally: where rally cars share the road with zebras and elephants, often under the implacable scrutiny of colourful Masai tribesmen.

Tuthill Porsche managing director Richard Tuthill said:
“We’re absolutely delighted with this hour-long programme that’s going to be shown on Motors TV next Friday: it conveys perfectly just what it was like being there and competing on one of the most dramatic events I can ever remember. Safari is more than just a rally: it’s a real journey of discovery for all the crews. Our customers come from all corners of the globe, but they have nearly all described the Safari as their biggest-ever adventure. We hope that by watching the programme, you’ll be able to see exactly why.”
