Clonakilty Park Hotel West Cork Rally 2026 Press Release 3

Posted: March 5, 2026 6:25 AM

The 2026 Clonakilty Park Hotel West Cork Rally begins in less than ten days, and Cork Motor Club are delighted to have atracted a strong entry in what looks to be a very competitive event in store for rally fans.

Top seeds are Callum Devine and Niall Burns (Skoda Fabia Rally 2) with Callum the reigning NAPA Autoparts Irish Tarmac Champion. This is the one major event in the championship he hasn’t won, although he has led in the past on a couple of occasions. He will be firm favourite to follow up his recent Galway victory. Current National Rally Champions Eddie Doherty & Tom Murphy are at two in another Skoda and will be looking to build on a strong start to the year having been runners up in Galway. Third seeds Josh Moffett & Andy Hayes are no strangers to Clonakilty, having won the event twice in the past, they will be Toyota Yaris mounted for this event and can’t be ruled out.

Fourth seeds Michael Boyle & Declan Boyle bring their Skoda to West Cork after two retirements this year to date but having tasted victory on several events at the end of last year, they will surely feature strongly in Clonakilty. David Kelly & Shane Buckley are at five, with Kelly on a high after winning the Mayo stages and this momentum could make them strong contenders in West Cork. Cathan McCourt / Barry McNulty and Declan Boyle / Patrick Walsh at six and seven respectively have a lot of experience of the West Cork stages and are both Skoda mounted. Shane Quinn & Stephen Reynolds at eight are the highest seeded Ford Fiesta Rally 2 on the event. The top ten is rounded off by Daniel Cronin / Padraig O’Donovan (Toyota Yaris) and Mathew Boyle / Gary Byrne (Skoda Fabia).

Outside of the top ten there are entries for local drivers Cal McCarthy and David Guest, along with Mark Kelly (VW Polo) and Sam Touzel (Ford Fiesta) from the UK, and Paul Barret (Citroen C3) and Ryan Loughran (Ford Fiesta), none of whom have competed in Clonakilty before as well as Joseph Kelly in a Toyota Yaris. The modified entry looks very competitive, with John Dalton, Conor Murphy, Michael Carbin, Adrian Hetherington, John Bonner and Conor Shanahan just some of the drivers batling it out. The Rally 3 class should provide a real batle with Cian Caldwell, Casey Jay Coleman, Johnnie Mulholland and Brendan Cumiskey just some of those involved. The Historic Rally sees the fabulous Escort WRC of Jason McSweeney lead the way, with Ray Breen (Subaru Legacy), Fergus O’Meara (BMW M3) and former winner Robert Barrable (BMW M3) amongst the favourites. The Historics will begin on Saturday morning on stage three, Ring.

The action starts at 7:45pm on Friday 13th with a town stage, a 5km test that begins in the heart of Clonakilty. A trip to the classic Rossmore stage concludes the days two stages in darkness. Saturday sees four tests, Ring, Kilbrittain, Dunworley and Clogagh all attempted twice with the action getting under way just after 9am. The first car is due back in Parc Ferme Saturday evening just before 6pm. Sundays six stages begin at 10.57am with Ballinacarriga, Sam’s Cross and Ardfield being run twice, and the Junior competitors will take part in all these stages. The centralized service area for the weekend is the West Cork Business and Technology Park on the N71 just outside Clonakilty. The first car is due back at the finish ramp at 4pm Sunday. Scrutiny will take place at Clonakilty Car Centre and Parc Ferme is at Clonakilty Showgrounds right next to the event headquarters and title sponsors the Clonakilty Park Hotel.

Clonakilty Park Hotel West Cork Rally 2026 Press Release 1

Posted: December 19, 2025 2:19 PM

Cork Motor Club, who in 2026 will celebrate their 50th anniversary, are pleased to announce some preliminary details of the 2026 Clonakilty Park Hotel West Cork Rally which will take place over three days beginning on Friday 13th March.

Steve Davis once again takes on the role of Clerk of the Course, and the rally will be the second round of the NAPA Autoparts Irish Tarmac Rally Championship.

As always, the West Cork team aim to make the event as competitor friendly as possible, and there will be a total of sixteen stages on the 2026 rally which will begin with two stages in darkness on the Friday evening, the first of which will start in Clonakilty town centre.
A later Friday start will allow crews to complete recce and scrutiny during the day before starting the rally later that evening.

Saturday will feature eight stages with some classic tests in store while Sunday’s six stages will prove equally as demand for crew and car alike. Approximately 50% of the route is the same as last year offering familiarity alongside fresh challenges for the competing crews.

The excellent Clonakilty Park Hotel will once again be the rally headquarters, and more information will become available for the event in the coming weeks.
